MINUTES<= o:p>

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Presid= ent Michael Drake. Michael welcom= ed members and guests and stated that going forward LBVA monthly meetings will= be held rain or shine.

New Year&#= 8217;s Eve: Michael Drake introduced Susie, owner/operator of Tiny’s (aka Longboat Key Liquors = and Cocktail Lounge) in Whitn= ey Beach Plaza. Susie thanked the LBVA for support= ing Tiny’s New Year’s Eve party.&n= bsp; Susie announced there would be a tent with tables and chairs set up outside so that smokers will not be a problem. The Bayou Tavern in the Plaza will= cater and there will be Champagne. Bob Noyes band will play. This event will be a nice convenie= nce to ALL Village residents.

Dues: Chantal Diem, membership chair, announced there are currently 47 paid members for 2010.

Police Req= uest: Gene Jaleski, Town Commissioner, s= tated that the LBK police department urges all residents to call them if they see anything suspicious. “P= lease call rather than not call.” Gene said the goal is for Longboat Key to be the safest community around.

Treasurer&= #8217;s Report:

Michael Drake, in Treasurer Bus Fischer’s absenc= e, announced we have $5300 in the bank as of November 30, 2009.

Village Cl= ean-Up: Michael Drake thanked Carol and St= eve of Angell’s Total Management for providing their dump truck for the clea= n-up on November 21^st as well as covering the dump fees. Angell’s saved the LBVA and = the Town of LBK around $250.

Street Lig= hting: Michael Drake urged everyone to ca= ll FPL if they notice outages of streetlights.&nb= sp; He said don’t assume someone else has called. He also said that we’re work= ing on streetlights for Palm Aven= ue between the Village and W= hitney Beach Plaza. Matsie Yost proposed a streetlight= for the corner of Pine and Magnolia.

New Member= s: Joy and Bernie Vogt from Toronto were intr= oduced.

Donations?= : Bobbie Banan motioned that the LBVA donate $500 to Toy for Tots as the LBVA has quite a bit in the treasury. Another member suggested a box at = the Whitney Beach Market so that members could donate toys. Sharon Oper said the need for food= was desperate at the Food Bank. B= obbie replied that it didn’t matter which charity was selected but felt tha= t it was important that the LBVA support local charities; she rescinded her moti= on specific to Toys for Tots. Kip O’Neill suggested that the issue be taken under advisement because of= the fact that everyone has a favorite charity.= Sharon Oper proposed that the executive committee take the issue und= er advisement within a few weeks. The motion was made, seconded and passed.

Sharon also requested that if anyone has fruit trees, she has pickers from the Food Bank that will come by—please call her. This request will be included in t= he newsletter.

Board Memb= ers

Past-president Ben Feole, secretary Georgia Walters, a= nd Kimberly Ross, member-at-large, were introduced and Michael Drake named abs= ent board members Treasurer Bus Fischer, Ted Smith, VP, and at large member, Bob Rokop.

Peacocks: Michael Drake reported that the fl= ock is close to being culled at this time.

Crosswalk<= /u>: Michael urged members to use the <= u>lighted crosswalk at Cedar Str= eet and Gulf of Mexico Drive instead of the intersection at Broadway.

Kiwanis Cl= ub: On behalf of the Kiwanis Club, Dr.= Bob Kromer asked for volunteers to ring the bell for the Salvation Army at Publ= ix of LBK. Please call Bob—= ;he said it’s a very rewarding hour and a half. In addition, Harry’s of LBK = will be hosting a wine tasting tomorrow for the benefit of the Kiwanis Club.
